Massage

Massage is the manipulating of superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using various techniques, to enhance function, aid in the healing process, decrease muscle reflex activity, inhibit motor-neuron excitability, and promote relaxation and well-being.

Kang’s has years of experience in remedial, chinese and relaxation massage.

Acupuncture

The general theory of acupuncture is based on the premise that bodily functions are regulated by an energy called qi which flows through the body; disruptions of this flow are believed to be responsible for disease.

Acupuncture describes a family of procedures aiming to correct imbalances in the flow of qi by stimulation of anatomical locations on or under the skin (usually called acupuncture points or acupoints), by a variety of techniques.

The most common mechanism of stimulation of acupuncture points employs penetration of the skin by thin metal needles, which are manipulated manually or by electrical stimulation.

The needles we use at Kang's Rehabilitation Centre are specifically created for acupuncture, hypo-allergenic and are disposed of after each use.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine is a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine that uses herbs to restore energy balance, address various conditions, and promote longevity. It has a rich and sophisticated system of diagnosis based on the principles of Yin and Yang, which were developed between the second century B.C.E. and the second century A.D.. Chinese herbal medicine does not treat symptoms or diseases, but rather the whole person and their patterns of imbalance.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy (OT) is the use of assessment and treatment to develop, recover, or maintain the daily living and work skills of people with a physical, mental, or cognitive disorder. Occupational therapists also focus much of their work on identifying and eliminating environmental barriers to independence and participation in daily activities. Occupational therapy is a client-centered practice that places emphasis on the progress towards the client's goals. Occupational therapy interventions focus on adapting the environment, modifying the task, teaching the skill, and educating the client/family in order to increase participation in and performance of daily activities, particularly those that are meaningful to the client.

Chiropractic

Chiropractors emphasizes manual and manipulative therapies and as an alternative to medications and surgery for neuromusculoskeletal disorders.

The relationship between structure, especially the spine, and function, as modulated by the nervous system, is central to chiropractic and its approach to the restoration and preservation of health.

Chiropractic treatment examine the biomechanics of the spine and other joints of the neuromusculoskeletal system and examines its role in health and disease.

Reflexology

"A natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands and ears and their referral areas within zone related areas, which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes without the use of tools, crèmes or lotions, the feet being the primary area of application, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body."
